As in other parishes of our Melkite Eparchy, we have established a network for intercessory prayer among our parishioners. The purpose of this network is to bring the needs, requests, joys, and sorrows, of our parish members into the prayers of our community daily life. By keeping something close to us, it becomes an integral part of each one of us. We become more aware of what is going on around us and of its importance, not only in the lives of individuals, but in the greater life of our parish community, and of the whole Body of Christ.
The persons in the “network” do not take the place of every one else's obligation to pray for one another, but are contacts in order to make these needs more keenly felt by the larger body of believers. It is also good to know that there are many people accompanying us on our journey as we ourselves stand before the of the Lord in prayer.
It is sufficient to call Louise Hajj, (203)792-5118 or Fr. Michael, 743-5119, with requests for prayer. These can be prayers of need, but also prayers of thanksgiving and praise. Complete confidentiality can be expected. Network calls will go into effect when necessary. Also, the list of participant intercessors can be expanded and revised at any time. If someone would like to participate in this prayer network please call Louise or Fr. Michael.
Also, please bear in mind that the prayer network is not a magical bag of tricks that we wrest from the hands of God. We all have many particular needs and requests of God, but we should pray in spirit of one of our of our prayers of the Byzantine euchologion that the Lord answers all our prayers "which are for our salvation". The greatest goal of all prayers is intimate union with God, the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.
"Not only should we ourselves in accordance with God's will pray unceasingly in the Name of Jesus Christ, but we are bound to teach it, to everyone in general, religious, and secular, learned, and simple, men, women, children, and to inspire them all with zeal for prayer unceasing.” ST. GREGORY PALAMAS
"Do not say, after spending a long time at prayer, that nothing has been gained, for you have already gained something. And what higher good is there than to cling to the Lord and persevere In unceasing union with him?” ST. JOHN CLIMACUS
